This course examines passages from the most authentic Shia book of Hadith, Usul al-Kafi, which contains more than 16,000 narrations passed down to us from the Prophet (s) and the Imams (a). The chain of narrators for each hadith will be briefly discussed along with an explanation of that hadith. We offer modern day applications to many of these beautiful and invaluable Hadiths. Some principles discussed in the Science of Hadith will be applied in this course as well. The text for this class will be Usul al-Kafi by al-Kulayni translated by Shaykh Rizwan Arastu. A total of 25 lessons were presented in the year 2017-2018, and the Book of Intellect and Foolishness was covered. This course is instructed by Sayed Mohammad Baqer al-Qazwini.

Sayed Mohammad Baqer studied ten years at the Seminary of Qom, and he completed a BA in Sociology from the University of Michigan - Ann Arbor. He is currently based at the Islamic Institute of America, based in Dearborn Heights, Michigan.
